One of Long Beach's most popular neighborhoods is the Plaza. This area is comprised of single family homes, most built in the early 1950s. Two styles are found in the Plaza, the traditional construction of the early 50s and the unique architectural style of the Cliff May Rancho home. The 1950s style homes are found in most of the Plaza area and were built with solid workmanship. Many have been added on to and remodeled over the years, yet the exterior original construction is still visible on many of these houses. The Plaza neighborhood runs from Woodruff St to the east, Stevely to the east, Willow on the south, and parts of Conant St and Wardlow St border the north.

The Rancho homes can be found between Spring and Wardlow and east of Studebaker. These homes were typically built with a high wall in the front which obscures most of the home from the street. Courtyards are found in the front of these houses, many with pools. The ceilings are open and the whole feel is rooms flowing into each other. It is a very original style and unique to this area.

The Plaza is a popular area because of the high quality of the Long Beach schools, the quick 10 minute drive to the Beach, close by El Dorado Park which offers golf, beautiful picnic areas, a nature center and trail; what a great place to spend an afternoon.
